How can they justify their relations Crimes? I know let us blame the Police!

In a recent blog I again spoke of the police chase issue here in New Zealand.

Well what has appeared in the media is an interview with the grandmother of one of those who died running from the police.

She says he wasn't always good but police should not be chasing people in high speed pursuits or words to that effect.

Do people just not get it? Ok whanau(family) will be in grief, but how is it the police fault when this person & his mate chose to run not once but twice.

His grandmother says he was so good with his new baby despite having split with his partner.

Well if he was really good & really wanted to be a role model to that child growing up then why was he hundreds of kilometres from home in a stolen vehicle which on been signaled to pull over twice for already speeding then proceeded to drive dangerously?

Now it is not always a given that if you come from a bad background you will become bad yourself. But from the attitude first of the criminals who died then the grandmother of that criminal I don't hold much hope for the child.

When you see babies or young children they are so full of life & for young kids especially Maori so bright then they follow parents into drugs & crime. Then you see the difference once they are grown, those that where looked after have better choices(though they don't always take them) but odds on those who are raised in a life of crime, drugs or alcohol dependency will have a chip on their shoulder all of the families making.

The police don't make the laws, they just enforce them. Crime is already out of control in New Zealand, though most of it is unreported, if the police don't chase then it will the road to anarchy as there will be no repercussions.

How people can blame the police when they are not the ones breaking the law is beyond me?

Why do they call it the good Drug?

Ever since I first became aware of Marijuana I have heard it called the good drug or words to that effect & that it needs to be decriminalized.

Having read a book about drugs early on at school I had no wish to partake. What I have learned since has made me glad of that. But still people insist on the myth that Marijuana is good for you. In some medical instances it maybe, but not in general use.

The information gained, first in the NZ military on the effects of drug use followed by the observations of the effects of drugs on people brought into hospital when security there, shows it is just people lying to themselves.

Having known a former (& current) drug addict or two the story was always the same. Marijuana is the most addictive & worst of the drugs & is responsible for a lot of crime to pay for the addiction.

So it is appalling to see the police are finding children as young as four years old smoking drugs & drugs also been used to keep babies quiet when they carryout their drug raids.

It has been shown that Marijuana alone harms peoples work ethic & motivation.

What chance to these kids have when starting on drugs so young?

We know there are so many issues connected to the legal drugs like Alcohol. So why do we continue to fool ourselves that Marijuana in particular is safe? It's not. The evidence is clear.

Experts divorced from reality!

I can't believe what I just heard on the radio. A so called expert on drug use, though I got the impression they were an academic, stated that the hits by police & customs on drugs have resulted in a rise in price. It is what they said next that floored me. The rise in price will result in less addicts & more looking to enter rehab.

That may happen in the long run but what is going to happen is a rise in crime & in particular violent crime as people become desperate to get their fix.

Having known an ex drug addict or two, they made the point that when the price went up they just increased their criminal activities. One was a burglar during his time as a drug addict(Heroin, Cocaine, marijuana), another hit vehicles to repay his drug dealers for his free marijuana.

Other areas that will see an increase is fraud by employees who are addicts & an increase in prostituition.

Fraud will impact on businesses to the extent in the current economic climate probably send one or two to the wall. As if the economic climate isn't causing a big enough rise in crime on its own.

Prostituition is of course now legal in New Zealand, but that doesn't mean it is something that is good for the mental well being for the participants. Many of those in the industry start to pay for their drug or alcohol addiction & others get into drugs or alcohol to cope mentally with having to be a prostitute due to financial pressures. So it becomes a vicious cycle.

It seems that on every subject we rush to the 'experts' who have to generally have an academic qualification but no real world experience.

When in the Netherlands in the mid 80's the locals told us that they got upset everytime the police had a crack down on drugs. It always resulted in a rise in crime.

Although I think for the long term good for the country of course there needs to be a crack down on all drug use.

As I said in the long term it may have the effect they were talking about. Short term it means a lot more work for the NZ Security Industry & the NZ Police.
